The second half of the school year is in full swing and we are off to a great start!
In Social Studies, we are learning about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. We've practiced bartering (check out pictures above) and discussed some important people. Ask your child about the special visitor in their classroom this week! In Science students are learning about specialized structures of animals. They camouflage and hid some butterflies in the classroom as a challenge for other classes to find. In Writing, students are working on their Non-Fiction book about an animal. I am learning some cool facts from them! In Math, students are working on equivalent fractions and comparing fractions. Make sure to check out their work when it is sent home, they are working so hard. They have a test next week. The study guide is due on Tuesday with a parent signature! In Reading, students are working on finding the theme in a text. Important updates: Monday, January 21, 2019--NO SCHOOL February is Heart Awareness Month. As a school, we are going to wear red on Mondays to support Coach Allen's fundraiser for the American Heart Association. Shirt forms are being sent home today. You can order and donate to our fundraiser by purchasing a red shirt. Your student can then wear the shirt on Mondays in February to support the cause! Book orders are being sent home today, for more information on ordering, visit my parent page. There are options as low as a dollar! Yearbooks are on sale for $15. Forms were sent home last week, let me know if you need another. Please be sure to check and empty out your child's agenda folder every night. You can see what we've been up to and check their behavior. Looking ahead: Our "Friendship Party" will be February 15th. Look out for more information :)
